Description
Malossi Gear Ratio 14/43 (d=17 mm) – longer final drive for Piaggio Maxi 2T 180
If you make your engine significantly more powerful by machining it or installing a tuning cylinder, there is often still a lot of potential in the top speed. This is exactly where this Malossi Gear Ratio 14/43 comes into play: The original final drives are usually chosen so that the stock engine can "pull" the ratio without problems. However, as soon as more horsepower is available, the engine quickly runs "dead" at higher speeds – the RPM increases sharply, while the top speed barely increases.
The precisely manufactured gears and intermediate shafts help you bring the final RPM to a tolerable level and simultaneously noticeably increase the top speed. And don't worry about the well-known myths: A longer ratio does not automatically mean that the scooter no longer takes off well. In practice, minimally stiffer clutch springs are often sufficient to compensate for this. On the contrary: If the gearbox is too short for the available horsepower, you are even wasting valuable power because the engine could pull significantly more.
Important: In the case of Piaggio Maxi two-strokes, there are different gearboxes that were partly installed in the same production years. Therefore, please check the original part before purchasing to see which version you need.
Features & Advantages
- Longer final drive for better conversion of increased power into actual top speed
- Reduces high RPMs at cruising and top speed (engine no longer runs "dead" as quickly)
- First-class workmanship of gears and intermediate shafts
- Suitable for everyday use: Launch behavior is usually well-tunable with slightly stiffer clutch springs
