Malossi Primary Gear Ratio for Piaggio (Year 96–98) – longer ratio for more actual top speed

If you have installed a tuning cylinder or modified the engine, there is suddenly significantly more power in the setup – and this needs to be converted sensibly into top speed. This is exactly where the primary gear ratio from Malossi comes into play.

Many original final drive ratios are chosen so that the stock engine can pull them without problems. With more HP, the following often happens: at higher speeds, the engine quickly "redlines," the RPM increases sharply, but the top speed hardly increases. With this Malossi primary ratio, you bring the final RPMs to a manageable level and can simultaneously significantly increase the top speed.

The gears and intermediate shafts are not only first-class in workmanship but are also designed for everyday tuning. And don't be afraid of myths: the fact that an engine with a longer ratio no longer takes off as well can usually be compensated for in practice with minimally stiffer clutch springs. On the contrary – if the gearbox is far too short for the available horsepower, you even waste valuable power because the engine could pull much more.
