Original Description:
Digital speed limiter with button Double-Check and automatic reactivation - Digital calculation and control of speed and RPM.
Function:
The DZB has a powerful microprocessor at its heart, which continuously calculates and evaluates the current speed and RPM. The DZB determines the speed via the supplied wheel sensor together with a small self-adhesive magnet for the rim. The RPM is calculated directly via the pickup cable of the CDI ignition with every piston stroke.
The DZB can be operated in KMH, RPM, or combo mode.
KMH Mode:
In KMH mode, you save a speed limit to the DZB. When this limit is reached, the DZB throttles the scooter by reducing the RPM. A variably adjustable pre-stage reduces the RPM stepwise before reaching the maximum speed, achieving a clean transition. If you are below the set maximum speed, the RPM is not regulated. Compared to regular RPM limiters, this has a positive effect on acceleration and speed when driving uphill. To operate the DZB in KMH mode, the supplied wheel sensor and wheel magnet must be installed on the front or rear wheel.
RPM Mode:
In RPM mode, the wheel sensor is not needed. Here, the DZB throttles the scooter only via the adjustable maximum RPM. When the maximum RPM is reached, the DZB regulates the machine down. Below the set limit, the DZB does not intervene. This results in no loss of performance in the lower RPM range. To soften the transition into throttling somewhat, different-sized pre-stages can also be set here. In these pre-stages, the DZB already throttles every 3rd ignition pulse shortly before reaching the maximum RPM.
Combo Mode:
In Combo mode, the DZB works simultaneously with the set RPM and KMH limits. This is particularly useful when you want to set a high-revving scooter to a low top speed. So that the scooter does not rev suspiciously high when starting, you can reduce the maximum RPM even before reaching the top speed.
Programming and Control:
Programming the maximum speed/maximum RPM is very simple. A simple press on the internal program button is enough to save the current speed or RPM as a limit depending on the operating mode.
To deactivate the throttling, simply pull the brake briefly and operate the button at the same time. To reactivate the throttling, simply turn the ignition off and on again.
Dimensions:
The housing is tiny. The dimensions are 45x45x18mm + mounting lug. The length of the connecting cables is 45-50cm, the button cable is approximately 100cm long. The dimensions of the wheel sensor are only approximately 28x19mm, the cable length is approximately 50cm.
Attention: The original cable length of the wheel sensor is rather short with 50cm, especially if the sensor is to be attached to the front wheel or near the axle hub!
You will additionally receive 4 quick connectors, with which the installation is child's play and super fast! No more cutting and soldering on the wiring harness!
Installation:
For installation, you must connect the 4 cables of the DZB. You need +12V (switched via the ignition lock), brake signal, pickup signal and ground/minus. For KMH mode, you must additionally install the wheel sensor and wheel magnet on the front or rear wheel of the scooter. The sensor recognizes the wheel revolutions, similar to a bicycle speedometer. The distance between sensor and magnet on the wheel should be approximately 5-15mm. The wheel sensor can usually be easily attached between wheel and variomatic housing, frame or fork. The magnet is provided with a 3M adhesive layer and can be easily attached to the rim edge or in the interior of the brake disc. Although the magnet is self-adhesive, we recommend permanently fixing the magnet with a 2K adhesive when you have found the optimal position.
Inside the DZB there are two control LEDs with which you can check the correct installation and function.
