Racing crankshaft of the highest quality!
The racing crankshaft is completely forged and finely balanced, the crank webs are also fully rounded, the connecting rod polished and it has the best and smoothest running balance factor of all maxi crankshafts!

By dispensing with plastic inserts in the cheeks, the shaft achieves a higher dead weight, which, in combination with the perfectly selected balance factor, results in uniquely smooth and almost vibration-free engine running!

The polished connecting rod - fitted with an SSC racing bearing - can withstand even the highest revs. Double slotted, silver cage bearings and two lubrication holes in the upper connecting rod eye leave nothing to be desired!

The crank webs have a diameter of 90mm and therefore fit in all Maxi 2-stroke engines from Piaggio. (The older generations had smaller crankcases).

Please note: This shaft has a stroke of 55mm, the original one has 52mm piston stroke. The additional stroke of 1.5mm (1.5mm upwards and 1.5mm downwards, one crankshaft revolution = 360 degrees) must be compensated accordingly. Either by means of an appropriately strong foot seal (spacer) or a head spacer. Alternatively, a specially manufactured cylinder head (combustion chamber dome) can be installed. Compensating for the extra stroke naturally changes the cylinder's control angles. Intake and exhaust are opened longer. This results in an increase in power. Since the angles tend to increase disproportionately to the timing of the exhaust port due to the geometry of the crankshaft drive at the intake times, this must be re-milled accordingly - depending on the desired timing angles - so that a suitable ratio exists again (pre-exhaust)!

Another special feature of this crankshaft is the special connecting rod. With a total length of 110mm it is exactly 5mm longer than the standard crankshaft! These 5mm are also compensated at the cylinder base by means of a 5mm aluminium spacer. You will also need the original Piaggio stud bolts for the 125cc AC engines (e.g. SKR 125), as these are long enough for the build-up" of 5mm. If you are using an AC engine, you will also need longer stud bolts. In this case, the ones from the Vespa PX come into question.

Thanks to the extra stroke, for example, with the original 176cc cylinder, the displacement increases to a whopping 185cc!
All in all, it is without doubt one of the best tuning crankshafts available on the market for the 2T maxi scooters from Piaggio / Gilera. Longer, polished connecting rod, extremely high-quality workmanship, racing bearings, excellent balancing and smooth engine running! What more could you want?

Tip: It's best to order the crankshaft bearing set at the same time!

We offer the crankshaft in 4 variations:

• individually
• in a set with 5mm aluminium spacers in premium quality (water jet cut!). )
• in set with 6mm aluminium spacer in premium quality (waterjet-cut!) (Perfect to compensate the longer conrod & more-stroke)
• in set with both spacers (5 & 6mm)

To compensate for the 5mm longer connecting rod of the 55mm long-stroke crankshafts for the Piaggio / Gilera Maxi two-strokes, you can't get around a spacer.
This cylinder base spacer is made of very high quality material and fits all 125 - 150 - 180 cc Piaggio two-strokes, whether AC or LC.

Since the engine housings are not always 100% identical at the ducts by design, slight adjustment work may be necessary on the spacer.

But due to its aluminium construction, this can be carried out very easily. Certainly not necessary, but anyone who makes the effort of using a long-stroke crankshaft and possibly other measures on their engine will be aware of this point.

Attention: The 6mm spacer not only compensates for the longer connecting rod, but also some extra stroke of a long stroke crankshaft!

Thanks to its thickness of 6mm, you save yourself (depending on the desired steering angles) the additional underlaying of foot seals (paper).
