Malossi Digitronic CDI – optimized ignition timing for Piaggio/Vespa 125–200 ccm (models with immobilizer)

The Malossi MHR Digitronic CDI is a sport-tuned ignition unit with variable ignition timing – just like the original CDI. This means: the ignition timing (IT) is adjusted depending on the engine speed. Since the combustion of the mixture takes approximately the same amount of time, ignition must occur further before TDC (top dead center) at higher engine speeds so that the mixture is fully ignited shortly after passing TDC and the resulting energy is optimally converted into propulsion.

Important: there are naturally limits to how many degrees before TDC can be ignited – otherwise, the engine would have to work "against" the ignition. This can quickly cause thermal problems and, in the worst case, burn a hole in the piston. This is exactly where Malossi comes in: with optimized ignition timings, the Digitronic CDI delivers more power even at low engine speeds. Additionally, the RPM limiter of the original CDI programmed from the factory is deactivated. This makes it the ideal addition for Malossi tuning cylinders – whether on a Piaggio VX 125/180/200 setup or, for example, on popular Vespa/Piaggio platforms.
