The BGM PRO Ignition Kit, comprised of high-quality components for a dual conversion of the Vespa to a maintenance-free, bright, and reliable ignition/dynamo unit, as well as a reinforced crankshaft for Vespa PK XL models.

This kit is designed for Vespa Smallframe models with a small dynamo cone. This includes all V50, 50N, SS50, SR50, SS90, V90, 90 Racer, V100, PV, ET3, PK S models. These still have a small (Ø19mm) cone which is not heavily loadable. This kit allows for conversion to electronic ignition as well as the more stable crankshaft of the PK XL models!

Dynamo and Voltage Regulator
The BGM PRO Set relies on a modern electrical system with a voltage regulator. The dynamo features modified coil wiring and produces a high voltage even at low speeds. This provides bright, stable light even at idle. At high speeds, the voltage regulator automatically stabilizes to a gentle 12-13 Volts. This also offers the possibility to charge a battery and/or support a USB charging socket for mobile phones, navigation devices, etc.

Ignition
The BGM Pro Ignition relies on the million-times proven CDI technology as used by Piaggio since the 1980s. The ignition pulse is triggered contactlessly via a so-called pick-up signal. The high ignition current, even at low speeds, ensures perfect starting behaviour under all conditions. The contactless ignition triggering is stable far into the five-digit RPM range.

Flywheel
The flywheels are matched to the respective application by their weight:
The Smallframe models are perfect with 1600 grams for the spirited character of the small engines.
The Largeframe engines offer a wonderful mixture of a lot of smooth running and very good acceleration with 2300 grams.
They are finely balanced, offer fantastic runout as well as high ignition timing accuracy and very good magnetization.
Due to the smaller circumference and the optimized blade areas, the engine responds very well to the throttle and has better acceleration and some more power.

Conversion
This kit is ideal as a replacement to renew, for example, a defective ignition of a PK XL/ETS model or to have a complete new and high-quality basis at hand during an engine rebuild. Furthermore, the kit is also very interesting for the conversion of predecessor models such as V50, PV, ET3 etc. These still have a weak dimensioned crankshaft with a small cone. The Vespa PK models received a more dimensioned crankshaft with the introduction of the sporty ETS models and the subsequent XL models. This has a larger dynamo cone, recognizable by the M12 thread of the flywheel nut and the oil seal with 20x32x7mm (PK XL) or 24x35x7mm (PK ETS). The stronger dimensioned stub is useful for tuning with 125cc and more on the V50/PV/ET3 models (the stub cannot break off). To install a crankshaft of the PK models in the older V50/PV/ET3 models, the flywheel of the PK models is additionally required. This kit provides the basis to lift an old engine to a contemporary level both mechanically and electronically. Anyone who additionally needs a voltage regulator and holder for the CDI should take a look at the kit BGM666PV20.

CONCLUSION
Very nice kit to upgrade the Vespa to a contemporary, reliable and powerful electrical system. All parts are permanently available as spare parts.

NOTE: The original fan wheel cover only fits with a spacer between cover and engine housing (see accessories). Alternatively, the fan wheel cover of the Vespa PK models can be used.
