Description
The fully electronic BGM Pro conversion ignition offers a strong spark, bright light and reliable starting in all weathers. The set is a complete replacement for the old (contact-controlled) ignition system including self-regulating 6 volt alternator.
12 Volt high power output
reliable contactless CDI ignition
maintenance-free forever
high light efficiency
better acceleration
higher performance
Battery charging possible
BGM Pro voltage regulator included
for crankshafts with a small cone (Lima shaft seal Ø19mm)
IGNITION BASE PLATE AND POLE WHEEL
The set comes with a powerful, maintenance-free electronic ignition system including a powerful 12-volt alternator including a modern BGM Pro voltage regulator. The BGM PRO Vespa PK125 pole wheel is adapted for use in smallframe engines with a small crankshaft stump.
CDI (IGNITION COIL)
The thyristor-controlled high-performance CDI (high-voltage capacitor ignition) produces a very stable and powerful spark of up to 40,000 volts.
This always guarantees easy and reliable starting, even in the most adverse weather conditions and/or at a low starting speed.
The contactless ignition guarantees perfect combustion of the mixture even at the highest speeds; the notorious contact flutter is a thing of the past with this set.
PERFORMANCE
The weight-optimized flywheel noticeably improves performance and acceleration without affecting the durability of the motor.
RELIABILITY
The BGM Pro conversion kit is based on technology developed by Piaggio. It is extremely robust and is still the first choice for all tour riders, globetrotters and odome-eaters today. BGM has further refined this technology and is now also making it available for older vehicles with this set. Once installed, you never have to worry about it again.
LIGHT
Thanks to the light coils connected in series, the alternator generates a high voltage even at low speeds, thus ensuring good illumination and visibility. As the speed increases, the voltage is limited to a maximum of 14.2 volts by the included BGM Pro voltage regulator. Compared to the original old alternator, you have excellent light output even at idle speed without having to worry that the bulbs will burn out at high speeds.
BATTERY
The BGM Pro voltage regulator also offers a regulated DC (max. 14.3V DC) output. It can be used to charge a battery and/or draw off the power for, for example, a USB charging socket (mobile phone, navigation system, etc.).
Notes: The DC current can only be measured correctly with a connected load. The DC output is always prioritized: If a lot of load is required at the DC output, it is no longer available to the AC output.
CABLE HARNESS
Technically, it is (theoretically) possible in many cases to continue using the old cable harness (with modifications). However, this requires some electrical engineering knowledge, as the original wiring harness is often designed as a so-called short-circuit electric and its switches are therefore designed as openers. In addition, the new alternator only has one current-carrying cable which leads to the voltage regulator. From there, the entire on-board network is supplied. The old original alternator, on the other hand, has individual coils for different supply areas.
We therefore recommend replacing the original cable harness, which is usually already desolate and oxidized due to age, with our new and perfectly fitting conversion harness. This comes with a suitable light switch (see also 'Accessories') and makes it much easier to convert to modern on-board electronics.
SUITABLE for all Vespa Smallframe models that still have the small crankshaft cone (identifiable by the diameter of the crankshaft stump with Ø19mm on the tread of the shaft sealing ring. As a rule, the flywheel nut has an M10 thread). Suitable for V50, 50N, SS50, SS90, V90, 90 Racer, V100, PV125, ET3, PK50 S, PK80 S, PK100 S, PK110 S.
Not plug and play suitable for V50 of the first series (V5A1T/V5SA1T with small engine flap, built up to around 1965). A spacer for the fan cover is required here (see accessories).
CONCLUSION: With the BGM Pro conversion ignition, the scooter becomes more agile, reliable and safer overall. A meaningful and value-adding
NOTE: The original fan cover only fits with a spacer between the cover and the motor housing (see accessories). Alternatively, the fan wheel cover of the Vespa PK models can be used.
