Description
BGM Pro Transmission Gears 'Made in Europe' for Vespa Smallframe
BGM Pro transmission parts are made of ultra-solid material. For the highest stresses, the gears are manufactured in Europe from high-alloy NiCrMo case-hardened steel (14NiCrMo13).
The precisely machined high-quality base material is subsequently hardened at Thyssenkrupp and is thus equipped for the highest engine performance. To guarantee precisely this, BGM gears are subjected to extensive test series.
TEST LABOR
Pulsation tests in a German test laboratory, in which we compared the very stable old original Piaggio gears with our BGM prototypes, resulted in a 50% higher load capacity of the BGM gears. The precisely defined surface hardening to 58-60HRC also makes the sprockets extremely resistant to wear. Better than Piaggio products. Consistently high quality. No compromises.
USE
Usable for all types of stress, whether touring or racing.
The ratios exactly match the original Piaggio gears. Additionally, a shorter-geared fourth gear is available. The gears can be combined with all commercially available side shafts that are also approved for use with standard transmission parts.
TRANSMISSION TYPE 42
The BGM PRO gears correspond to the latest version as introduced by Piaggio from 1976. Commonly known as the so-called PK transmission, it was already used in the ET3 models and the V50 Special. Original gears of the new type can be recognized by the cast number/letter combination. The gears of the PK type begin with '42' and end with '/s'.
The BGM PRO gears therefore also bear the marking '42'.
FITS
The BGM Pro gears therefore fit all engines that have this transmission type ex works or have already been retrofitted. For retrofitting older engines/vehicles (before 1976), no new main shaft is required. Only the gears and the PK-type shift claw (height=50mm),
Conversion 3-Speed
3-speed engines can also be easily converted to a four-speed transmission with the appropriate shift claw (height=50mm) and the BGM Pro gears.
Austria Transmission
The Austrian mopeds have a longer secondary transmission.
Here, the BGM Pro transmission can be retrofitted if the side shaft is also replaced. This transmission was also used in vehicles for other markets (e.g. Portugal).
Exceptions
Vespa V50 1°Serie (V5A1T) with 1° Serie engine (V5A1M up to engine number 92876): These engines have a narrower engine housing and a narrower main shaft. Retrofitting is not possible here.
CONCLUSION: Very stable transmission components with an excellent price-performance ratio
