Description
High-quality wheel axle that is absolutely dimensional* compared to many other axles available on the market. With the axle offered here, the bike is guided perfectly again. The bearing surfaces are hardened as in the original, thus ensuring a long lifespan.
SINGLE-SIDED LOAD
The Vespa front wheel suspended on one side causes an asymmetrical distribution of force to the front wheel bearing in the brake drum. For example, the brake drum needle bearing farther away from the center of the wheel is more heavily loaded than the relatively centrally located ball bearing. If the bearing is faulty, this results in very undifferentiated driving behavior.
CHECKING STORAGE Storage
can be checked by simply tilting the relieved front wheel back and forth. To do this, simply grip the tire at the top and bottom with one hand each and try to tilt the entire front wheel to the center point. If the wheel has play, the two brake drum bearings should always be changed. With the storage set and tools we offer, this can be done without any problems in your own workshop/garage.
CHECKING THE WHEEL AXLE
The needle bearing runs directly on the surface of the front wheel axle, it should also be checked. If, for example, it was not re-greased regularly (approx. every 4000 km), this has often run into the warehouse running area. This would mean that the bike would play again even with new bearings, a no-go for the next TÜV test. Fortunately, you don't need a new fork right away if the front wheel axle is faulty. This can be squeezed out and a new one can be pressed back in very easily.
CHANGING THE FRONT WHEEL AXLE
For this, a hydraulic press is an advantage, which almost every metalworking company or workshop calls its own. To do this, simply press the front wheel axle out of the fork from the long side. The breakaway torque is rarely higher than 4 tons. The new axle can simply be pressed back in with the long side first; it does not need any orientation or orientation (unless, of course, it is inserted straight into the hole so as not to tilt during the pressing process).
UPGRADE
A tip for improved front wheel bearings is our conversion kit for extra wide bearings. The significantly increased storage area increases shelf life enormously.

*Many replica axles have the problem that the diameter of the bearing surface is too small. Changing the wheel axle would therefore not solve too much storage problems.
