Malossi HTQ primary gear 15/38 – longer gear ratio for more actual top speed

When you increase the power of your scooter through modification or the installation of a tuning cylinder, the engine often cannot convert this power meaningfully into top speed – because the original final gear ratio is usually chosen to be so short that it fits the stock engine perfectly. The result: at higher speeds, the RPM increases sharply, the engine "revs itself to death", but the top speed hardly grows.

This is exactly where the Malossi HTQ primary gear comes in: the gears and intermediate shafts are processed to a first-class standard and help you bring the final RPMs to a bearable level while simultaneously allowing the top speed to increase significantly – particularly useful for setups such as on Piaggio Sfera RST, Vespa ET2 or also many other Piaggio/Gilera 2-stroke models.

And don't worry about the usual tall tales ("with a longer gear ratio it won't move anymore"): in practice, slightly harder clutch springs are often sufficient to compensate for this without problems. On the contrary – if the gearbox is far too short for the available HP, you are even wasting power because the engine could actually pull significantly more.
