Description

Wideframe Crankshaft Sealing Rings are available in two different versions:

  • Round notch for Wideframe engines (sheet metal carrier thickness 0.5mm)
  • Square notch for Largeframe engines (sheet metal carrier thickness 0.8mm)

The version suitable for Wideframe with 0.5mm is only available in No-Name quality. The oil seals fit and there are no problems with tight bearings.

PROBLEM WITH WIDEFRAME ENGINES
The significantly higher quality BGM Pro and Corteco oil seals are (for safety reasons) only available with a sheet metal housing of 0.8mm thickness. If these are installed in a Wideframe engine, the crankshaft bearings become tight, which leads to bearing damage.

SOLUTIONS FOR WIDEFRAME ENGINES
a) The circumferential rib of the oil seal is pressed flat so that the height of the oil seal sheet by about 0.3mm reduces. The bearings then run freely.
b) The BGM Pro bearing set with special FAG ball bearings with 9 balls. Here, the bearing shoulders have been turned to size to ensure a stress-free assembly of the crankshaft bearing. The set includes the appropriate high-quality ethanol-resistant BGM Pro FKM oil seals.
