TOURING FLYWHEEL -BGM Pro TOURING 2.0 Electronics 1900g, large fan blades - for Vespa PX200, Cosa200
The BGM PRO flywheel is a perfect replica of the original PX200 flywheel. With its large curved blades, it offers high fan performance, ideal for large cast iron cylinders such as the Polini 210.
The BGM PRO Touring flywheel weighs a full 1000 grams less than its original Piaggio counterpart at 1.9 kilograms. This makes it very agile to drive during acceleration, while the engine retains its smooth elasticity.
It can be used as a 1:1 replacement for the original Piaggio PX200 flywheel. Of course, it can also be used on engines with smaller displacements (80-190ccm).
FEATURES
very high fan performance, ideal for thermally highly loaded engines (cast iron cylinders / sidecar operation / continuous load highway)
1900 grams = up to 35% lighter than an original flywheel (Piaggio without Elestart 2800-3200 grams)
High ignition timing accuracy
Very good runout
Factory balanced
Good magnetization
Riveted with high quality as original from the factory
Usable on engines with 80-200cc (and more)
WEIGHT
With 1900 grams, the BGM8225RT (T for Touring) is 1000 grams lighter than the original flywheel of the PX models. It offers the ideal combination of sufficient flywheel mass for powerful starting torque and a weight reduction for a sprightly engine revving with better acceleration. Compared to the very heavy flywheels of the older PX models (without Elestart), it offers a 35% lower flywheel mass.
PERFORMANCE & COOLING
The cooling fins are curved and have the largest surface area of all flywheels for the PX engines. Piaggio first introduced this fin profile on the legendary SS180 engines. This guarantees high fan performance even at low speeds. The high cooling performance is ideal for thermally critical engines, such as a Polini 207 cast iron with a SI24 carburetor that is to be driven at full throttle on the highway or has to cope with a lot of load in sidecar operation.
ELESTART
The flywheel does not have a gear ring for the electric starter. It can be installed and driven on all models (including electric starter), but the electric start function is then no longer available. We recommend our BGM8025RTE for vehicles with Elestart.
RECOMMENDATION
We recommend the BGM8225RT for all thermally highly loaded engines or as a perfect replacement for the no longer available original Piaggio flywheel. The less basic performance the engine brings (PX80/PX125) the more one should be on the heavier side with the flywheel weight. Very light flywheels (under 1600 grams) usually offer no advantages here.
NOTE
Very old PX200 engines (up to year of manufacture 1982) often still have the first flywheel generation (recognizable by the longitudinal oval inspection hole closed with a rubber seal, OE number: 167052). Here, the labyrinth seal on the back was designed slightly differently than in later engines. In order to be able to install the BGM flywheel, which corresponds to the original Piaggio design of the flywheel generation from 1982 (OE number: 167102, vehicles with indicators), two small aluminum struts of the engine housing must be reduced in height.
