Installation tip: Sand the housing base and connection point of the earth cable until bright and, if necessary, treat with a little contact spray. Ground connections must always have the best possible contact without disturbing resistance!

MOSFET - The Revolution in Voltage Regulation

For many years, classic voltage regulators have been using so-called silicon control rectifiers to keep the battery voltage constantly constant.

This concept works quite well in small and medium-sized engines.

The novel MOSFET voltage regulator technology is becoming increasingly popular, among many other interesting advantages, mainly due to its optimized performance. Nowadays, scooters and ATVs, thanks to the many additional equipment such as injection systems, more efficient lighting and many other assessors, higher energy consumption.

This requires a lot of energy that a conventional generator cannot generate due to its low power capacity. At a power current of more than 35A for irrevocably overheating and destruction of the generator. As a result, classic generators are outdated and no longer really suitable for such vehicles with higher energy consumption.

A classic generator has a power drop of (approx. 1.5V - 35A) because it works like a power diode. As the power current increases, so does the power loss (heat (generated)). For this purpose, all excess energy is routed from the generator to the ground during operation. As a result, the voltage drop is very low (less than 0.2 V - 35A) and this in turn drastically reduces heat which in turn increases the lifespan of the generator enormously.

As a result of its diverse applications in the electronics industry, MOSFET technology has been greatly improved in recent years to enable effective semiconductor integration in the smallest areas with excellent performance.
