Description
Until the year 1945, the history of the Italian company RMS, which has always produced first-class spare parts and accessories for scooters, dates back.
The variomatic drive of our scooter is the heart of the engine. It is quite insensitive and works very reliably, but one should observe the maintenance intervals. The most important parts are the V-belt and the variator, in which the centrifugal weights (also called variomatic rollers) work.
The V-belt is falsely often judged according to the appearance. However, the measure is decisive. Each manufacturer specifies wear limits for his engines, which should be strictly adhered to. If a belt becomes too narrow, it can and will tear. If you are lucky, only the belt is broken. However, a tearing V-belt can quickly cause damage to pulleys and crankshaft / bearing, which then becomes very expensive.
The variator itself can wear out in the region of the guide of its bushing. This results in a too low and dropping acceleration speed and thus a reduced power. The centrifugal weights become slightly angular in the course of time, then work no longer properly and can possibly cause damage to their running in the variator in case of excessive wear.
