Description
On Vespa smallframe engines, the primary gear sits on the crankshaft and transmits power from the engine to the outer clutch basket. The basket sits on the secondary shaft and ultimately transmits power to the bike through the transmission gears and mainshaft.
In the case of a major overhaul, the primary gear should definitely be checked for locking and replaced if necessary!
