Description
BEARING The lubrication of the lower connecting rod bearing is done via two large oil slots and a total of four additional pockets on the sides. The SSC race bearing and the side guide disks ensure solid bearing. The lubrication of the upper connecting rod bearing is done via two grease bores. The INA main bearing for the connecting rod is included in the crankshaft delivery.
CONROD The conrod is made extra sturdy and, like the crank arms, forged in a die. The result is an extremely loadable conrod that easily withstands the high torques of today's motor concepts over time.
CRANKPIN
The crankshaft is available with 60mm (long stroke) and with 57mm (standard) stroke. With the long-stroke variant, more displacement is achieved, at the same time, the valve timing of the cylinder (intake and exhaust channels) can be changed in a performance-enhancing manner.
INTAKE ANGLE
The bgm PRO Touring crankshaft has a significantly better layout of the intake time compared to many other racing crankshafts. With tuning cylinders, the standard crankshaft with its very short intake time does not work. The bgm PRO crankshaft, on the other hand, closes on a PX engine block approx. 65° after the upper dead center (depending on the engine block, this is different from the factory). The motor can be adjusted well with these valve timing angles. Tip: If the intake is processed so that the crankshaft releases the intake slot earlier, additional power can be gained. A good value here is about 110-115° v.OT.
RELEASE
The design of the PX engines' crankshafts is based on that of the first 125cm³ engines from 1960 with approx.5 HP power. Unfortunately, Piaggio did not really change this construction when increasing the displacement later. As a result, the load capacity of the crankshaft with the serial 200ccm models with 12PS is already exhausted in terms of calculation. The crank arms are very narrow and have very little overlap (material that is available, in terms of diameter, over the lower crankpin). As a result, neither a particularly high press-fit nor a large crankpin can be used, as would be necessary for the power readiness of today's engines.
The BGM PRO Touring crankshafts therefore have an extremely high material quality and bearing.
In addition to the very rigid material, which allows us to guarantee a very strong press-fit of the crankpin, this is additionally glued for maximum torsional stiffness with a special industrial adhesive. Based on the positive experiences gathered from many thousands of test kilometers in our own daily used motors, we release the BGM PRO Touring crankshafts for engine powers up to 25PS without restriction.
We recommend using a lightened flywheel with max. 2300gr for engines in this power range.
Conclusion
In summary, the bgm PRO crankshaft offers the highest quality in all aspects of its components. Precision in manufacturing, materials used and above all the precise balancing leave no more wishes open. This guarantees an extremely smooth and vibration-free engine run.
Tip
It is best to order the 24x35x7 oil seal from Gilera Runner directly with it. The seating of the bgm crankshaft is wider than usual and can therefore be driven with a double-lipped oil seal.
