MOSFET - The Revolution in Voltage Regulation

MOSFET transistors are used to amplify electronic waves.
This concept has replaced the traditional three-phase voltage regulator technology, as it is much more resistant to interference or failures.

The main advantage lies in the significantly reduced heat generation, which is what causes most conventional regulators to fail.

For many years, the classic voltage regulators used in almost all two-wheelers have employed a so-called silicon control rectifier to keep the battery voltage constantly stable.
The new MOSFET voltage regulator technology is becoming increasingly popular in new vehicles, mainly due to its optimized performance.

Nowadays, motorcycles, scooters and ATVs have a higher energy consumption due to many additional features such as fuel injection systems, ABS control units, more powerful lighting etc.
A classic generator cannot generate this increased energy requirement due to its low power capacity.
With a current load of (for example) more than 35A, this would inevitably lead to overheating and destruction of the generator.

As the current load increases, so does the power loss (heat).

During operation, all excess energy from the generator is directed to ground (chassis).
As a result, the voltage drop is very low (less than 0.2 V - 35A) and this in turn drastically reduces heat generation, which in turn enormously increases the life of the generator!
