Description

The regulator has the simple task of keeping the voltage in the onboard network constant even at widely varying engine speeds, thereby protecting the consumers from overvoltage and preventing the battery from overcharging.

MOSFET - The revolution in voltage regulation

Mosfet transistors are used to amplify electronic waves.
This concept has replaced conventional three-phase voltage regulator technology, as it is far less susceptible to interference or failures.

The essential advantage consists of the far lower heat generation, which causes most conventional regulators to "die".

For many years, the classic voltage regulators installed in almost all two-wheelers have used a so-called silicon control rectifier to keep the battery voltage constantly stable.
The new MOSFET voltage regulator technology is becoming increasingly popular in new vehicles, primarily due to its optimized performance.

Nowadays, motorcycles, scooters, and ATVs have higher energy consumption due to many additional features such as injection systems, ABS control units, more powerful lighting, etc.
A classic generator cannot produce this increased energy demand due to its low power capacity.
With a power current of (for example) more than 35A, this would irrevocably lead to overheating and destruction of the generator.

As the power current increases, the power loss (heat) also grows.

Additionally, during operation, all excess energy from the generator is conducted to the ground (mass).
As a result, the voltage drop is quite low (less than 0.2 V - 35A), and this in turn drastically reduces the heat generated, which again enormously increases the lifespan of the generator!

Through diverse applications in the electronics industry, MOSFET technology has been greatly improved in recent years to enable effective semiconductor integration in small areas with excellent performance.

Furthermore, it enables very fast switching, improved reliability, and offers great control under adverse conditions.

MOSFET INNOVATIONS AND SPECIAL FEATURES:

  • High-performance three-phase voltage regulator
  • Output power up to 50A
  • High electronic accuracy
  • Important heat reduction for long service life
  • Longer battery life
