The Highsider SMART universal flasher relay has three pins and an adjustable flashing frequency. It measures 37 mm in diameter and 35 mm in height, and covers a consumer range from 0.06 to 180 watts.

Notes

• No function at 6 V.
• According to StVO, the flashing frequency must be set to 1.5 Hz plus/minus 0.5 Hz, which corresponds to 90 pulses plus/minus 30 pulses per minute.
• Suitable for vehicles with 3-way connectors and 2-pin assignment (49, 49a). With 3-pin assignment (49, 49a, 31), the green cable on the adapter plug is used; the assignment must be checked.

The fact that the frequency can be adjusted solves the most common problem when converting turn signals: with a mixed configuration of LED and incandescent bulbs, a stock relay flashes too quickly. The wide load range from 0.06 to 180 watts covers both types of lighting in one system.

Installation and Application Notes

• The old relay is unplugged and the new one is connected according to the assignment 49, 49a, and 31; the separate green cable goes to G (31) and a ground point on the vehicle. Then, the flashing frequency is adjusted and the function, including the hazard light system, is tested.
