Description
If there is slight compression or performance loss, it doesn't necessarily mean you need a completely new cylinder. Most of the time, it’s the piston rings that have developed too much clearance due to natural wear.
Worn piston rings are clearly identifiable by the blackened, burned piston skirt at the front and rear (so-called Blow-By, past the rings). If the engine is open for servicing after a few thousand kilometers, it is definitely advisable to fit new piston rings and continue to enjoy the cylinder kit for a long time.
The new rings should be run in for a short time, as they need to bed in. Good oil, a warm-up period, and a few kilometers of careful driving are sufficient.
Here: one piston ring. Two rings are required per piston.
