  • 1957
    LIQUI MOLY is founded by Hans Henle in Ulm. The foundation stone for the company is the patent for the production of the solid lubricant molybdenum disulfide (MoS2). The first product was thus an additive to engine oil based on the liquefied solid lubricant. MoS2 improves the lubricating properties of oil, extends the service life of the engine and protects it even when there is no oil left for lubrication. The liquid molybdenum disulfide also gives the company its name. LIQUI MOLY = liquid molybdenum disulfide.
  • 1974
    The company continues to grow. Due to a lack of space, LIQUI MOLY moves from the city center to the northern district of Lehr.
  • 1998
    The company is realigning itself. The new managing partner Ernst Prost has expanded the distribution of LIQUI MOLY products to other channels such as workshops, retail, commercial vehicles, self-service and industry. In this way, the company was able to counteract its dependence on a few major customers. LIQUI MOLY is also pushing ahead with internationalization.
  • 2006
    MÉGUIN GmbH & Co. KG in Saarlouis is integrated into the group of companies. The company becomes one of the most important oil suppliers for LIQUI MOLY.
  • 2015
    Internationalization has borne fruit. LIQUI MOLY now exports its products to over 120 countries. The export quota is over 50%. It can be said that every second liter of LIQUI MOLY goes into export.
  • 2021
    LIQUI MOLY now offers a broad product range with over 4,000 products. These include engine oils, transmission oils, additives, chemical problem solvers, car care products, workshop supplies and service products.
