New gaskets are essential whenever the cylinder is fitted or overhauled: used base and head gaskets have already compressed and will no longer seal reliably.

Installation and running-in notes

• Keep the sealing surfaces of the cylinder, head and engine casing clean, flat and free of grease; completely remove all old gasket residue.
• Tighten the cylinder head in a criss-cross pattern to the torque specified by the manufacturer.
• The gaskets are designed for the specified Airsal cylinder – please use the original gasket set for the original cylinder.
• Fill and bleed the cooling system after installation.
• After working on the piston and cylinder, run the engine in gently: avoid full load during the first kilometres, vary the engine speed and do not let the engine overheat. Afterwards, check the spark plug colour and carburettor settings.
