Malossi contrast spring yellow – more bite during takeoff for 500ccm Piaggio engines

This reinforced Malossi contrast spring is made for the original rear converter (secondary converter) on maxi-scooters with a 500ccm Piaggio engine. With the yellow spring, you slightly increase the power RPM – in practice, this ensures noticeably better acceleration behavior. Additionally, the drive shifts smoother and the engine runs quieter overall.

Especially for popular maxi-scooters such as Piaggio MP3 500, Piaggio Beverly 500 or Gilera Nexus 500, a suitable contrast spring is an important building block if you want to tune the variator/automatic cleanly – without having to dispense with the original converter.

Important Notes on Spring Rate (Malossi Specifications)

Unfortunately, Malossi does not specify for large scooters how much the pressure changes compared to the OEM contrast spring. Instead, spring rate (K) and spring length are provided – this allows Malossi springs to at least be compared with one another.

• For maxi-scooters, the general rule is: Green contrast springs are softer than the OEM spring
• All other colors are harder than the OEM spring
• The higher the (K) value, the harder the spring
• With the same (K) value, the longer spring is the harder one
