BGM Pro Side Shaft 'made in Europe' for Vespa Smallframe

BGM Pro transmission parts are made of ultra-solid material. For the highest stresses, the side shafts are manufactured in Europe from high-alloy NiCrMo case-hardening steel (14NiCrMo13).
The precisely machined, very tough and strong steel is then hardened at Thyssenkrupp and is thus equipped for the highest engine performance. To guarantee precisely this, BGM transmission parts undergo extensive test series.

TEST LABOR
Pulsation tests in a German test laboratory, in which we compared the very stable old original Piaggio side shafts with our BGM Pro prototypes, resulted in a 50% higher load capacity of the BGM PRO side shaft. The precisely defined surface hardening to 58-60HRC also makes the pinions extremely resistant to wear. Better than Piaggio parts. Consistently high quality. No compromises.

APPLICATION
Usable for all types of stresses, whether touring or hardcore racer.
They harmonise perfectly with the BGM PRO gear wheels for Vespa Smallframe.
The BGM PRO side shafts are available in three stages:

STANDARD STAGING (BGM01822)
The standard staging corresponds exactly to the original Piaggio transmission as installed ex-works in almost all 50-125cc Smallframe engines. Can be used with the original gear wheels (Z 58-54-50-46) or (alternatively to BGM01821) with a short 4th gear (Z 48).

SPORT STAGING (BGM01821)
For sportier setups that require a tighter gear ratio between 3rd and 4th gear, BGM01821 is ideal. Here, the fourth gear is one tooth shorter, ensuring that the engine is always perfectly in the power band when shifting from 3rd to 4th. Often used when a strong resonance exhaust is used with a tuning cylinder.
Very good alternative to a short 4th gear (Z48) because fewer teeth also always result in a more stable gear wheel/side shaft (wider tooth base). Used with the original gear wheels (Z 58-54-50-46).

RACE STAGING (BGM01720)
Here, the third gear is already one tooth shorter, the fourth gear already two teeth shorter. These short gear jumps allow you to always stay perfectly in the power band of a high-revving engine. For road use, usually combined with a longer primary gear ratio to achieve a sufficiently high top speed. The 1st and 2nd gears are then already correspondingly long and can be used as full gears. Used with the original gear wheels (Z 58-54-50-46)

FITS
The BGM PRO side shaft fits all Smallframe engines with a four-speed transmission.

EXCEPTIONS
An exception are the so-called small motorcycle transmissions (so-called 'Österreich transmissions').
The Austrian small motorcycles have a longer secondary transmission.
Here, the BGM Pro side shaft can be retrofitted if the gear wheels are also replaced. This transmission was also used in vehicles for other markets (e.g. Portugal).
Also excluded are the vehicles V50 1°Serie (V5A1T) with 1° Serie engine (V5A1M up to engine number 92876): These engines have a narrower engine housing as well as a narrower main shaft. Retrofitting is not possible here.
