Als reserveonderdeel dient het scharnierblok om de functie van een beschadigd of versleten onderdeel aan de bijbehorende koffer te herstellen. Het ondersteunt de reparatie zonder dat de gehele koffer vervangen hoeft te worden. Het scharnierblok is bedoeld voor het sluit- of klapmechanisme van een koffer.
